The Line Presents The Flavours of Singapore

To commemorate Singapore’s 54 years of nationhood, The Line at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore will present a celebration of local food inspired by the traditional street food of the 1980s. Guests can travel back in time to enjoy tropical fruits, including durians and retro snacks, as well as nostalgic food and beverage favourites from the restaurant’s 16 live-cooking stations. The Flavours of Singapore buffet is available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday dinner from 18 July to 10 August 2019. 

Durian lovers can enjoy unlimited servings of Golden Phoenix durian, Hong Xia (red prawn) durian and D13 durian opened to order. Tropical fruits, such as mangosteen, rambutan, longan and jackfruit, are also available at the outdoor stall. This will be complemented with childhood snacks, including Kacang Puteh, Satay Ampai, White Rabbit Sweets, Lobster Cube Biscuit, Wheel Crackers and more. 

Guests can also enjoy an enhanced buffet spread with old-time food and beverage highlights, such as Yong Tau Foo, Oyster Omelette, Bak Kut Teh, Iced Bandung, Chendol and Soya with Chin Chow. The fare is prepared by Chef Raymond Yin Teng Poh, The Line’s Asian chef with more than 44 years of culinary experience specialising in local cuisine. These highlights will be served along with a wide range of international delights from the buffet.

  • SGD128++ per adult; includes unlimited servings of local fruits, beers and soft drinks

  • SGD59++ per child (6 to 11 years old) 

Prices are subject to a 10% service charge and 7% GST. 

About The Line 

Featuring 16 live kitchens, The Line offers a sumptuous international buffet that is feted as one of the best in Singapore. Dishes are freshly prepared a la minute, enabling diners to watch the chefs in action. Highlights include the Crustacean Bar, with its appetising display of fresh seafood, such as oysters, prawns and crabs, that changes based on what is available. The Tandoori Ovens offer spiced meats and breads unique to the north and south Indian cuisines. Not to be missed is the Dim Sum Kitchen, where steaming baskets of freshly made dim sum await guests who enjoy this traditional Cantonese food. The meal can be rounded off at the Dessert Counter with its delectable spread of cakes, crepes and other sweet treats. 

Designed by internationally acclaimed interior designer Adam D Tihany and spanning 1,350 square metres, The Line features indoor and al fresco dining options. The latter offers views of the hotel’s lush gardens and free form swimming pool. 

True to the restaurant’s name, its concept symbolises the thread of continuity in nature, family, culture and life. A bright-orange light box traversing the ceiling and floor anchors the interiors, accented by Schonwald chinaware designed by Tihany, himself.
