Working Together to Bring Positive Impact

At Shangri-La Group, we are privileged to operate in some of the most prestigious and pristine environments in the world.

As we expand into new frontiers, we are honoured to partner with many local leaders and indigenous communities where we have operations. We place great emphasis on bringing both economic opportunities as well as creating lasting value for the larger community.

Our sustainability and CSR initiatives are focused on five key areas: community engagement, environment and biodiversity, employee development, sustainable supply chain, and health and safety.

Changing Lives through our CSR initiatives

We have two major flagship CSR programmes - Embrace and Sanctuary.

Embrace

Launched in September 2009, Embrace - Shangri-La's Care for People Project - commits each hotel to a five- to ten-year partnership with a chosen beneficiary focusing children's health or education programmes. These projects look at the level of education and health support needed in under-privileged communities. We partner with schools, health centres or orphanages or other charities to provide them with the funding, infrastructure support, life skills training and hotel apprenticeships.

Sanctuary

The core principle underpinning Sanctuary - Shangri-La’s Care for Nature Project - is to promote the conservation and restoration of biodiversity. We are present in some of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse areas of the world. We have a responsibility to look after the biodiversity of these pristine places for future generations to enjoy. We partner with local governments, NGOs and communities around our resorts to protect the surrounding habitat and its flora and fauna.
