Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore, Drives for ARC and Raises S$169,050

After a successful golf fundraiser in 2015, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore once again joined hands with the Sentosa Golf Club to raise S$169,050 for Arc Children’s Centre during the its annual charity golf tournament, Drive for ARC, on 8 December 2016.

Proceeds will be channelled to Arc Children’s Centre, a day centre for children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Established in July 2011, the centre has played a pivotal role in providing much-needed moral and emotional support to brighten up the children’s days.

This year’s fundraiser marked the resort’s sixth consecutive year in supporting Arc Children’s Centre and its tenth consecutive year to host an annual charity golf tournament in aid of a selected beneficiary.

The tournament was held on Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course. A total of 112 golfers participated in Drive for ARC and children from Arc Children’s Centre gave a touching performance during lunch before the tee-off. The golf tournament ended with an auction dinner hosted by local entertainer Hossan Leong and Vice President and General Manager Ben Bousnina. Guests-of-honour at the event were Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and patron of Arc Children’s Centre, Mrs Goh Chok Tong.

The auctioned items included a golf package to play in the upcoming Am-Am of SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) Singapore Open 2017, with four days of access to the tournament from the VIP Hospitality Viewing Lounge at Sentosa Golf Club, various vacation packages including flight tickets, an oil painting by Australian artist Diane Withers, who has works displayed in Britain, the United States, Canada and Norway, and more.

“We have reached a milestone in our fundraiser as today’s event marks a decade of giving. It is the resort’s tenth consecutive year to host an annual charity golf tournament in aid of a selected beneficiary and sixth consecutive year in supporting Arc Children’s Centre. We are extremely grateful to all our guests, business partners and friends who have continuously supported us throughout the years. The effort from each individual brings us a step closer to enriching the lives and fulfilling the dreams and hopes of the little ones and their families from the ARC Children’s Centre,” said Mr. Bousnina.
