Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, in continuing its commitment towards corporate social responsibility, donated MYR 180,000 from their “Embrace the Gift of Life” Christmas Tree Charity Project to a Bilateral Prothesis patient and seven children who were in need of funds for immediate heart surgeries.
The yearly project has invited individuals and organisations to support the annual fundraising charity project by sponsoring a miniature Christmas tree sugarpiece with a minimum donation of MYR 1,000 in aid of children who are in urgent need of funds for immediate surgeries and medical care. These miniature Christmas tree sugarpieces were stacked on a conical steel structure to form a giant Christmas tree and the donor’s names or company were prominently displayed on the sugarpieces.
The Minister of Tourism, YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen was invited to present the funds to the critically ill children together with the hotel’s Vice President / General Manager, Mr. Lothar Nessmann.
Since its inception in 1985, the “Embrace the Gift of Life” charity project has raised more than MYR 3 million to help many critically-ill children from all over Malaysia.
