STAR Rewards Outstanding Pupils From Adopted School

STAR Rewards Outstanding Pupils From Adopted School

Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa rewarded its adopted school, Bantayan Inanam Primary, for achieving significantly improved examination results last year with an entire morning of water play for their achievers.

The school, which was academically ranked amongst the last 10 schools in the Kota Kinabalu district when the resort adopted them three years ago, now ranks 24th out of 57 schools.

As a result, 21 achievers from the school were treated to a day of fun at the resort’s Water Play Area and later to a scrumptious buffet lunch at Café TATU.

The children also stopped by the resort’s Clownfish Discovery Centre to learn more about marine ecosystems and conservation. They were also given the opportunity to take a closer look at some marine life at the centre’s Touch Tank.

The Resort adopted Bantayan Inanam Primary School in 2016 and together with various local business partners, have since been supporting it through various planned activities, including English book donations to the school's library, provision of nutritious food for the children who cannot afford to bring their own snacks to school, working with the local medical community to create medical records for the students and measure their nutrition levels, maintenance and upgrading of current infrastructure to create a safe environment for the pupils.

The Resort’s employees also organize regular visits to the school to teach the pupils English.
