The Gallery at Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai will showcase the works of renowned artist, Ms Wang Xiao Hui, on 8 July 2013. The sixth artist to be featured at The Gallery, Ms. Wang will exhibit 12 contemporary photographs from the series’ of “My Last 100 Years,” “Early Temptation,” “Shanghai Garden” and “Nano.” Other than her main field of photography, her works also span across sculptures, media art and literature.
Ms Wang was born in Tianjin, China, and now maintains residences in both Munich and Shanghai. She is active in the cultural communication between Germany and China. The German Government has given her the “German-Sino Friendship Award” for her work as a “Cultural Ambassador.” She has been appointed an honorary member of the BFF (German Association of Freelance Photographers).
Since 2002, she has been a professor at Tonji University in Shanghai, China. She founded the institute “Xiao Hui Wang Art Center” in 2003 and the “Tongji International Media Art Center” (TIMAC) in 2006.
Moreover, Xiao Hui Wang has won many prizes in the last few years. She has been recognized as one of the top 50 “Chinese Who Impact the Future of the World” by the Hong Kong magazine “Phoenix Life.” She also received the “International Star Artist Award” at Art Masters in St. Moritz, “Photographer of the Year” by Shanghai Media Group and “Artist of the Year” by South China Media Group, just to name a few.
Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai unveiled The Gallery in February 2012. Located on Level 2 of the hotel’s Grand Tower, The Gallery continues to discover rising stars in the art industry, presenting to the public their talents and artwork. Guests are welcome to purchase any work for their own collection.
