Lobster Bar and Grill at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong welcomes Executive Chef Matias Aldasoro of Casa del Visitante – the restaurant of Familia Zuccardi winery in Mendoza, Argentina from 3 to 9 July 2014.
Diners will be offered an opportunity to savour authentic Argentinian flavours, such as empanadas (traditional meat-stuffed bread), humita crème brûlée (corn crème brûlée), Argentinian stuffed chicken, flan with dulce de leche and the famed Argentinian beef, which will be featured in the a la carte, bar snack, weekday and weekend lunch menus, as well as a four-course special dinner paired with the finest Argentinian wines hand-picked by Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong’s Hotel Sommelier, Asia’s only Master Sommelier Yohann Jousselin.
Heading the restaurant in a renowned winery, Chef Aldasoro emphasises strongly on the balance between food and wine. He believes that every chef should have certain knowledge of wine, as even the best dish in the world can be ruined if paired with the wrong wine.
“The art of pairing is a game of balance and instinct; it is a matter of taste, palate and education,” says Chef Aldasoro, whose gastronomic philosophy on the union of food and wine makes him a perfect match with Familia Zuccardi winery.

Before joining Casa del Visitante, Chef Matias Aldasoro had worked in a number of established restaurants in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, including the Michelin one-starred ‘Plat D’or’ restaurant of the five-star Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel, as well as the Son Muntaner Golf restaurant of Arabella Golf & Spa Resort. He had been invited to various guest chef events to showcase Argentinian cuisine in such countries as Peru, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil, Japan, Thailand and China.
Chef Aldasoro graduated from Instituto Argentino de Gastronomía, a well-known culinary university in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
