Four years of genuine CARE with Heep Hong Society
Heep Hong Society is a local non-profit organisation committed to providing professional care, education, training and family support services to children - from babies to students in junior secondary schools - who have developmental and learning problems. Since 2000, they have made great strides in helping children with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, ADHD and other specific learning difficulties and special needs.
Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong has been a supportive partner to the organisation since 2009, with numerous charitable initiatives and periodic activities with the children. Today, 30% of them are able to enter the “mainstream” educational system after few years spent at the Heep Hong Society Centre.
Heep Hong Charity Mooncakes
Beautifully wrapped charity mooncakes with drawings by members of Heep Hong Society were sold at the hotel’s mooncake counter last Mid-Autumn Festival. The mooncake box contained four traditional mooncakes with white lotus seed paste and double egg yolks. All proceeds from the sale were donated to benefit Heep Hong Society’s diverse services and facilities.
Mid-Autumn Festival Children’s Party
More than 29 children from Heep Hong Society were treated to an early mid-autumn party organised by the hotel staff in the Island Ballroom on 11 September 2013. The fun party was filled with games, performances, a scrumptious buffet lunch, as well as receiving gifts – each child took home a whimsical lantern ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The event was concluded with a cheque presentation of the funds raised from the sale of teddy bears for Heep Hong Society.
