Surabaya, Indonesia, 09 June 2014 - Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya has appointed Chia Kiat Fui as dim sum chef of its signature restaurant, Shang Palace.
Chef Chia, a Malaysian national, brings with him 15 years of culinary experience to Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya. His foray into the world of Chinese cuisine started in 1998 as an apprentice at Lai Po Heen Restaurant, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. His specialisation in dim sum cuisine has taken him to captain in the Chinese kitchen of other five-star establishments in Bangkok, Thailand and Mina A. Salam, United Arab Emirates.
Chef Chia is blessed with two children. During his free time, he experiments on new ways to improve his dim sum creations. At Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya, he hopes to bring new ideas into Surabaya's dining scene.
