Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang Offers Cash and Prizes At First “FIP’s Got Talent” Contest

Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang Offers Cash and Prizes At First “FIP’s Got Talent” Contest

Penang, 15 July 2016 – F.I.P. (Fun, Interactive and Play), a hip and trendy spot at Shangri La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, announces the first FIP’s Got Talent, a singing competition to elevate the professional development of singing as a performance in Penang.

F.I.P. has joined forces with Maverick Media Productions to discover and celebrate the best local talents on the island.  The contest is now accepting entries for solo and duo acts.  Entry and participation is free and deadline for submission of entries is on Friday, 15 July 2016.

“The idea of FIP’s Got Talent was created as a platform for talented singers/artistes who have limited access to performing at international hotels or at high-profile events.  The goal is to provide a springboard for singers of all genres, to showcase their talents, shine on stage and become popular household names,” said M. Kalai, the resort’s director of food and beverage.

Each performer is required to showcase his/her performance skills and vocal prowess by performing two songs, one slow and one fast, in English, Malay or Mandarin.  However, at least one of the songs must be in English.  Aggregate scores from both performances will be used to determine the results.  Competitors will be judged on vocal quality, pitch and tone, as well as stage performance and costume.

The winner will receive RM2,000 in cash and a trophy, and enjoy a three-day/two-night stay at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang.  He/she will also perform at one major event at the resort.  The runner-up will receive RM1,500 in cash, a trophy and a two-day/one-night stay at the resort.  The second runner-up will receive RM1,000 in cash, a trophy and a buffet dinner for two persons at Spice Market Café.  All other finalists will receive a buffet dinner for two persons at Spice Market Café as consolation prize.

The competitions are scheduled every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.  The First Heat will be on 17 July 2016, the Second Heat on 31 July 2016 and the Third Heat on 14 August 2016.  At the conclusion of each heat, those selected will proceed to compete at the Grand Finals on 28 August 2016.
