3D Journey with Marco Polo at Jade on 36 Restaurant of Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai

3D Journey with Marco Polo at Jade on 36 Restaurant of Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai

Pudong, China, 19 October 2017 – Combining gastronomy and entertainment with 3D animation, Jade on 36 Restaurant at Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai welcomes Le Petit Chef and his new themed series of Marco Polo intrigue.

As the first hotel to launch the ‘3D Le Petite Chef – Marco Polo series’ in mainland China, Jade on 36 Restaruant will present guests stunning views of the city skyline while they savour culinary delights from the restaurant’s master chefs, along with the playful animation of a miniature chef who invites himself to a table of guests to “prepare” meals right before their eyes. All of the senses will be tended to with culinary expertise as he presents an entertaining six-course themed menu, especially for year-end parties.

Guests can take a journey with Le Petit Chef starting from his hometown to the Middle East, and enjoy Mezzeh Steamed Prawn, Hummus, Tabbouleh Muhammara and Fattoush to have a real taste of Arabia.

Across the land of the Middle East to the historical nation of India, diners are invited to have a traditional Indian dish of Tandoori Lamb Chops, Indian Samosas and Raita Sauce. The lamb is marinated in yogurt, seasoned with spices and cooked at high temperature in a tandoor. The dish is cooked in very little oil to make it less fattening, and the seasonings give it a spicy taste. Samosa is one of those typically Indian dishes that is usually filled with spiced potatoes, onion, peas, coriander and lentils with curry and spices.

Guests will step into a snowy wonderland of the Himalayas with the Yoghurt Cinnamon Sherbet, which presents a sense of mystery and fantasy. The flavour of sweet and sour will open up their appetite for the next dish.

Travelling to the last stop of China, there will be Steamed Sea Bass with Bok Choy and BBQ Eggplant with Light Soy Ginger Sauce. Steamed Sea Bass with Bok Choy is one of the common home-cooked dishes in traditional Asian cooking style. Sea bass is steamed till it is tender and smooth. Seasoned with soy ginger sauce, the soup tastes fresh, without any fishy smell.

Guests can refresh their taste buds with Spiced Rice Pudding to complete this unforgettable dining experience.

Designed by Skull Mapping, an artistic collective run by Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck, ‘Le Petit Chef – Marco Polo series’ is a delightful combination of performance art and comedy using 3D projection, which brings new meaning to a dinner experience. The six-course meal is priced at RMB798 net per person and RMB398 net per child (for Saturday and Sunday lunch only) and limited to 12 persons per seating. The first seating is at 5:30pm and the second seating at 8:00 pm daily for dinner, and at 12:00 noon for weekend lunch.
