Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing Celebrates Global Wellness Day

Beijing, 14 June 2016 – Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing, together with all Shangri-La hotels and resorts around the world, invited KOLs, media friends, guests and colleagues to find their #ParadiseWithin on Global Wellness Day, an international celebration of health and wellness on 11 June 2016.

“Travel is not only a discovery of the world around us, but it can also lead to an exploration within oneself to find moments of happiness, exhilaration, contentment or serenity,” said Todd Hewitt, corporate director of spa, health clubs and recreation at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.  “With Shangri-La’s participation in Global Wellness Day, we hope to encourage everyone to find their #ParadiseWithin not only on June 11, but also throughout the year.”

The morning of the day was packed with workouts.  KOLs, media friends, guests and colleagues had Pilates and tai chi sessions in Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing’s lush garden.  The hotel also prepared healthy organic meals for all the guests to enjoy.  They were lucky enough to have a special after-meal activity, which was to have a close look at over 100 precious vintages cars parked in front of the hotel for the sixth Peking to Paris Motor Challenge.

The hotel also celebrated Global Wellness Day with the global community on social media.  Guests, media and colleagues shared their Global Wellness Day moments through various social media platforms.

“Global Wellness Day is all about encouraging healthy lifestyles and positive living.  What better way to spread the word than through the global connectivity of social media?” said Hewitt.  “We look forward to sharing, liking and following along on our properties’ and guests’ journeys toward living well.”

In 2012, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the first day dedicated to living well.  The observation was officially celebrated in 73 countries in 2015.  For more information, please go to
