Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou Unveils Taiwan Food Festival with Hurricane Delicacy at WOK TOO Café

Hurricane Delicacy approaches in November as Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou launches the popular Taiwan Food Festival at WOK TOO Café from 1 to 10 November 2013. Sous Chef Geoff You from Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei, has specifically selected over 30 types of Taiwanese delicacies to be presented at dinner during the promotional period to satisfy the local gourmands’ taste buds without having to travel thousands of miles away.

As a result of the integration of Cantonese, Fukien and Hakka cuisines, Taiwanese cuisine has been further developed by blending the local produces and the essence of Japanese and Dutch culinary art, which influenced its cooking style and diverse flavours.

During this food festival, Chef You is pleased to present well-known regional specialities to the table of Guangzhou gourmands, including Pan-Fried Oyster Omelette with Egg and Green Vegetables, Crispy Prawns with Scallion, Garlic, Chillies, Salt and Pepper and Shihlin Night Market Deep-Fried Chicken Steak, Creamed Seafood Ragout in Toast Bread Box, Tainan's version of Dan Dan Noodle Soup and Aromatic Braised Minced Pork on Steamed Rice.

Apart from the food, Taiwan’s specialty drinks and desserts are the not-to-be-missed choices during this food festival.  Chef You has placed all famous Taiwan desserts on the menu to stimulate the guests’ appetites.  With Taichung Ice Milk Tea with Sticky Rice Balls and Tai-Dong Rosella Flower Tea, Taro and Sweet Potato Ball with Molasses, Hakka Handmade Sticky Rice Sweets with Peanuts and Sugar, names mean nothing, but these dishes are mouth-watering.
