Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou Launches 2013 Moon Cake Collection

Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou recently launched its 2013 lotus-themed mooncake collection with 15 flavours for guests to choose from.  The mooncakes are packed in sophisticated boxes embroidered with colourful clouds, a symbol of auspiciousness in Chinese culture.

Made from a traditional recipe using the finest ingredients, the White Lotus Bean Paste Moon Cake offers exquisite flavours perfected in the past two decades and is once again crowned the “Gold Medal Mooncake.”  This year’s newly created flavours include Matcha and Red Bean Paste, Honey Pomelo Paste, Pandan Lotus Bean Paste, Green Tea Paste, Pumpkin Paste and Coconut Paste.

Cantonese-style flavours with seafood filling include Scallop with XO Sauce Paste Moon Cake, which is prepared with superior dried scallops and a slightly spicy seafood sauce; Assorted Dried Seafood Paste Moon Cake, which is filled with stock braised abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and sun-dried mushrooms; and Abalone Paste Moon Cake, which is made of diced abalone wrapped in lotus bean paste and offers a slightly crunchy texture. 

For those who care about health and nutrition, Mixed Nuts Paste, Bird’s Nest Lotus Bean Paste, Spirulina Algae Paste, Black Sesame Paste, Black Jujube with Walnut Paste and a sugar-free version of Pumpkin Paste Moon Cake are recommended.
