Little Traveller—Finding Beauty in Beijing

Little Traveller—Finding Beauty in Beijing

This autumn, in this beautiful season of Beijing, Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing joins TrendsTraveler in launching “Little Travellers”, a family travel plan themed “Finding Beauty in Beijing”.  The partnership sincerely hopes to engage families who are travel enthusiasts to join this activity.

Travel is a good way for children to open their eyes to the world.  “Little Travellers” is the activity aimed to help children explore the nature and the city with curiosity and courage.  This is the second leg of “Little Travellers” after the success of its first leg started by TrendsTraveler.  Some of the families and children will be selected to experience specially planned routes in Beijing.  Children who gained more achievements than the others in their travels will be titled as “Little Travellers”.

From 19 to 31 October 2015, families with children aged 5 to 14 can audition by sharing photos of their family trips in Beijing on WeChat Moments.  They should describe their unique view of this beautiful city with the topic “Little Travellers Finding Beauty in Beijing” and send a screenshot of the posted Moments to the official TrendsTraveler’s WeChat or by participating in the topic “Little Travellers Finding Beauty in Beijing” on Weibo.

Ten families will be picked to compete in a design competition and complete their routes with “Tongtong”, Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing’s mascot bear.

As one of the organisers, Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing itself can be counted as one of the scenic spots in the West Beijing.  With bridges, a clear pool and painted rafters, the hotel’s 3,000-square-metre garden showcases an exquisite scene.

It is this “land of idyllic beauty” hidden in the town centre that “[T]he exquisite scene and the beautiful carpet of grass strewn with fallen flowers” refers to.  Sited by the side of the Changhe River, the hotel is along the way to several historical sites in West Beijing, such as Wanshou Temple, the Old Summer Palace and Summer Palace.  It is also an obligatory stop on the route to exploring West Beijing.

The award ceremony will take place at Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing at the beginning of December 2015.  After a strict selection process, six families will each win a two-night stay at one of the popular hotels within the Shangri-La group, including Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei; Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong; Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan; Shangri-La Hotel, Lhasa; and Hylandia by Shangri-La.  One of the family who outshines the other families will also be entitled to a one-night stay in Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing’s Presidential Suite, valued at RMB30,000.

Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing and TrendsTraveler are searching for “Little Travellers” who focus on protecting the planet, exploring nature and learning culture.  The hotel hopes children will get the true meaning of travel, have fun and benefit from this activity.
