Sule Shangri-La, Yangon's Chef de Cuisine Wins First Prize in National Chefs' Competition

Chef de Cuisine Shwe Moe Tha of Café Sule at Sule Shangri-La, Yangon won Myanmar Chefs’ Association’s (MCA). The Chefs competition, on 2 June 2014. In cooperation with MRTV-4 Channel, MCA orgainised the competition, which for a period of one month starting 8 May 2014.

Chef Shwe Moe Tha bested a total of 24 chef participants, winning first prize among the four remaining chefs, after competing in 20 battles.

The Chefs competition included Appetiser, Main Course, Pasta, Barbeque, Desert, Snack, Salad and Soup categories. During the final competition on 2 June 2014, the four chefs prepared three and four course set menus.

The competition ended with a gala dinner on 5 June 2014 at Sein Lan So Pyay Garden where Chef Shew Moe Tha was bestowed the first prize of Myanmar kyats 1,500,000 by MCA judges.
