Sule Shangri-La,Yangon Celebrates The Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival
Sule Shangri-La,Yangon celebrates the Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival

Yangon, 10 August 2017 - In honour of the mid-autumn tradition of joyous reunions and mooncake sharing around the world, Sule Shangri-La,Yangon once again offers an exquisite selection of mooncakes.

As the festival is an occasion of reunion, the mooncakes' round shape is said to symbolise the family circle and its flavours the sweetness of filial ties. More than just a delicacy, mooncakes are considered a deep cultural tradition rooted in the concepts of gathering, thanksgiving and prayer.

Summer Palace Executive Chef Pang Siu Keung and his team have created a delectable variety of mooncake flavours this year. These traditionally baked round pastries are filled with sweet lotus paste, red and yellow beans, durian, custard, taro or pandan filling, and may be enjoyed plain or with salted egg yolk, said to signify the moon.

The mooncakes come in a box of four (4) pieces and are available from 10 August to 4 October 2017. A 25 percent early-bird discount on orders of 10 boxes or more is available from 10 August to 25 August 2017. From 26 August to 4 October 2017, guests will also enjoy a "10+1" offer and 15 percent bulk-purchase discount(for 50 to 100 boxes) and 20 percent(for 100 to 200 boxes).

A beautiful,non-bake option is the snow-skin mooncake, or ice-skin mooncake, which will be available for a limited time only, from 1 to 4 October 2017.

Originally from Hong Kong, the snow-skin mooncakes are made with roasted glutinous rice flour, giving it a soft outer coating skin and a texture that is quite similar to mochi: soft, chewy and milky. This delicate white shell gives it a snowy appearance, hence the name. Snow-skin mooncake flavours available this year include Mango, Strawberry, Black Sesame, Green Tea and Coffee.

Crafted as the ideal gift, the mooncakes come encased in an elegant and distinctive red casing, adorned with floral artworks. Guests may purchase Sule Shangri-La, Yangon's mooncakes at Summer Palace or Gourmet Shop.
