Shanghai, China, 10 September 2016 – Following the success of the first Climb For Hope on 28 June 2015, Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai has successfully held the second Climb For Hope Vertical Fun Run on 10 September 2016. 282 runners from 15 countries and areas conquered 1,625 steps to reach the finishing line – 60 floors. The event continue as a Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai corporate social responsibility tradition, RMB81,216 has been donated to Children’s Medical Centre to help underprivileged children. 

Mr. He Liang Liang from China stole the show, set a new record for vertical fun run with a time of 9 minutes and 10 seconds. Setting the new record was no easy feat for him. He said: I am very happy to be here to participant this event. It’s really a challenge for me”. 

All participation fee proceeds RMB81,216 has been donated to the Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre, to assist with the medical treatment of under privileged children. Besides climbing for charity, Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai hopes to promote a healthy and positive lifestyle through this event. The stresses of big city urban living demands that we spend most of our time and energy at work, neglecting healthy living habits like proper nutrition, sleep and exercise. Climb for Hope Vertical Fun Run presents a light-hearted and fun side to exercise, bringing together families and the community to climb together.  

Participants this year come from the public and participating partner communities – CEO Roundtable on Cancer and Jing An Kerry Centre, the Shanghai Shangri-La hotels – Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai and Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai.  All are welcomed to participate, amateur or elite runners, as we are climbing for a good cause. Everyone is a winner as long as you participate, with a congratulatory completion medal presented at the finishing line. 


More about Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre (SCMC) 


The SCMC is a tertiary paediatric hospital affiliated to the Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. It was jointly established by Shanghai Municipal People’s government and Project HOPE as a general children’s hospital. Based in Shanghai, Pudong, the medical centre, covers an area of 17 acres with a capacity of 500 designated medical beds.
