Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ newest flagship hotel will open in the heart of Shanghai on 29 June 2013. The 508-room Jing An Shangri-La in West Shanghai will envelop guests in a world of luxury and modern glamour befitting one of the most exciting and influential international cities.
City Centre Location
Situated right in the heart of the Jing An central business district, the Jing An Shangri-La Hotel will be the focal point of the Jing An Kerry Centre – a new city landmark that encapsulates a lifestyle of affluence and vibrancy with the integration of 450,000 square metres of prime hotel, retail, office and residential space.
Sitting on a network of public transport, including direct underground passages to Metro lines 2 and 7, the Hotel is a 45-minute drive from Pudong International Airport and only 20 minutes from Hongqiao Airport via the adjacent elevated Yan'an Middle Ring Road.
An icon of luxury
Adjacent to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre and only steps away from the Jing An Temple as well as the famous Nanjing Road shopping street, the Hotel will overlook a 3,000-square-metre piazza featuring pathways, gardens, water features and al fresco dining. Within the piazza, a piece of history will be preserved for all to enjoy as Shangri-La works with the Jing An District Government to restore and preserve the home in which Chairman Mao spent several months in 1920.
The exquisite Shangri-La brand brings a new icon of luxury to the Jing An District and enhances the prestige of Jing An as one of Shanghai’s most up-scale and cultured districts. It will be the centre of attraction associated with affluence and the place to be seen in the future Jing An.
Rooms & Suites
The 508 guest rooms will occupy the top 29 floors of the 60-storey main tower, with restaurants, offices and retail shops located on the lower levels. Featuring an elegant, contemporary style, the guestrooms will measure between 43 and 62 square metres, while the 42 suites offer 93 to 311 square metres of living space.
Access to the Horizon Club Lounge on the 55th floor - with express check-in/out, complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails - will be available to hotel guests staying in the Grand Premier room category and above. The spectacular 360-degree panoramic view from the lounge offers our guests the ideal place to soak in Jing An city views from the top of the world.
Dining Experience
Among Jing An Shangri-La’s many draws is its array of restaurants and lounges. The unique destination restaurant, Summer Palace, located on level three, serves Southeastern Chinese cuisine with Cantonese flair. Inspired by Chinese ink paintings of poetic landscapes, a series of contemporary dining chambers each provide a different dining ambience and menu.
The 1515 WEST Chophouse & Bar on level four is where old Shanghai film-making meets classic American bar and grill décor. Serving beef from hand-selected cattle raised in Australia specifically for The 1515 WEST, the main dining room features an open-grill kitchen complemented by a raw bar. The 1515 WEST bar provides signature cocktails from a team of world-class mixologists.
The hotel’s two-level Café LIANG & mezzanine will add a new twist to gourmet international buffet. The café will feature a “tick box” menu card for main courses, integrating a buffet and table service experience. A la carte Japanese-inspired cuisine will be served on the mezzanine level.
Health & Leisure
For our health-conscious guests, a Health Club featuring the latest cardio and fitness training equipment, and a heated indoor 25-metre sky-dome lap pool. Shangri-La's signature CHI, The Spa provides our guests a sanctuary for relaxation.
Meetings & Events
The Hotel will offer 4,465 square metres of meeting and conference space, including a 1,740-square-metre Jing An Grand ballroom – the largest in West Shanghai. It is complemented by a roof garden and 1,039 square metres of pre-function area. Unique to the hotel is a self-contained Lifestyle Suite looking out to a garden. There will also be a 514-square-metre junior ballroom and six function rooms totaling 659 square metres.
