Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo Unveils Shang Palace's New Private Dining Rooms

Ningbo, China, 16 September2013 – Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo’s Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace, opens two new private dining rooms called Hangzhou Bay and Dongqian Lake this summer, offering ideal venues for an exclusive dining experience.

The two private dining rooms have been renovated in a contemporary style, and each has a living room, an 18-seat dining room and a terrace with natural sunlight. Hangzhou Bay spans approximately 90 square metres and Dongqian Lake is about 70 square metres; both have a height of 7 metres. The dining rooms feature wool carpet in eggshell blue, echoing the drawings on the walls that present Shangri-La, the mysterious legendary place.

The sreamlined design of the rooms creates a sense of space and includes elements of the Jiangnan area, including the window lattice, the traditional lock of the cabinets and the shape of the doorway between the living room and the dining room. Luxury comes with quality in the details of the mirror’s gold foil background, the imported material for the sofa covers, imported crystal chandeliers and the latest iPad-controlled sound system.

Upon the high demand on food quality from the Chinese Executive Chef, Zhou Hui, whose signature dishes of Braised Assorted Seafood with East Sea Pomfret and Braised Oxtail with Broccoli in Casserole won the gold medal in Shangri-La Group’s Chinese Culinary Challenge in 2011, a special kitchen is designed beside these two private dining rooms to ensure the food can be presented on the table as soon as it is ready.

“The sense of service, the surroundings and the food are equally important for a restaurant. The sincerity of Shangri-La service can never be compromised and the staff of the new Chinese private dining rooms are ready to serve. Our newly promoted Chinese executive chef, Zhou Hui, was born in Ningbo and he has spent his whole life in this city discovering the secrets of Ningbo cuisine so that he can provide authentic and innovative Ningbo food,” said Gregor Wateler, general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo.
