Ningbo, China, 21 August 2017 Embracing Ningbo with its heartfelt hospitality, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo, flagship property of Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts in Jiangsu & Zhejiang region of China, celebrates its 8th anniversary in August by launching a once-in-8-years flash sale via its WeChat Shop and Pop-up Store located in Raffles City. Moreover, 200 distinguished guests from prestigious corporations together with influential media were invited to an appreciation dinner on August 21stto celebrate Shangri-La 8 years of service excellence in Ningbo and to offer hotel’s sincere thanks to business partners’ generous support during the past years.   


Since its opening eight years ago, on August 21st 2009, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo has been delivering the consistent Shangri-La hospitality by providing all guests with the affordable luxury and the memorable experiences.  Each year, over 100,000 guests choose to stay with Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo and experience its renowned service and products whether rooms or food & beverage; more than 1,000 couples have tied the knot in Shangri-La’s ballrooms. Through trusted relationship and cooperation with Ningbo Government, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo has been selected as the host venue for nearly all major international events, including the APEC meetings. The hotel has also been working closely with the local tourism bureau in an effort to make Ningbo as one of the key MICE destination cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.  


In addition, the hotel has garnered over 150 awards from the prestigious magazines or organizations in travel & leisure market, honouring the most outstanding performers in the industry. The hotel is also awarded the Certificate of Excellence every year by Trip Advisor and, a testimony for its commitment to the service excellence. As the bond of friendship and partnership with valued business partners have indeed flourished over the past 8 years, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo has steadily grown to be a market leader. In 2016, the hotel exceeded all 9 score KPI targets assigned by Shangri-La Corporate Office, with a full set of green lights, and won Hotel of the Year2016 of Shangri-La worldwide, the most prestige award in Shangri-La Group. 


From corporate social responsibility aspect, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo has given back to the local community through various CSR projects and activities, such as environmentally sustainable development, charity classes for migrant workers’ children as well as elderly care. The hotel will continually seek to help more people in the local community get on solid ground through infrastructure support, fundraising, life skills training and even hotel apprenticeships.

The appreciation dinner was kicked off with a passionate video presentation featuring many milestones that Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo has achieved during the past 8 years and presenting hotel colleagues’ great efforts in providing the genuine Asian hospitality. In the video, along with the inspiring rhythms of the Fight Song, hotel colleagues danced together and immersed in joy. Just like the lyrics say, “My power turned on, starting right now I will be strong”, all colleagues have been motivated, united, confident and determined to create the hotel brand value with truly splendid services.  


The dinner reception was followed by a champagne tower ceremony and the attendees enjoyed 5-course fresh signature flavours carefully crafted by the creative culinary team and were also pampered with an array of dazzling performances. When night fell, a “Happy 8th Anniversary” lit on the calm waves hotel building, making it easier to recognize this iconic building from anywhere in Ningbo.  

In addition to in-house activities, Shangri-La Hotel Ningbo also launched a series of flash sale with discounts up to 91% off via its WeChat Shop including food and beverage products, room package, mooncake, spa treatment and health club membership. Also, in cooperation with Star Dreams, the wedding planner in Ningbo, Shangri-la Hotel Ningbo will present the first-ever and the most exciting Love-themed Pop-up store in Raffles City from August 26th to September 1st. In conjunction with Chinese Valentine’s Day on August 28th, the Pop-up store will bring opulent displays of romantic blooms where creates an ideal venue for proposing to the beloved one in front of a crowd. And anyone who could be successfully engaged on site will receive a surprise present from Shangri-La & Star Dreams. Nowadays, in a digital world, pop-up concept has become a trendy tool to deliver extended services & engaging experiences to the target customers from a brick and mortar hotel to a dedicated store located in a high end mall and enhance brand awareness as well as customer communication process. Shangri-La pop-up store would drive a growing trend away from tradition and encourage more audiences to connect with hotels via fun activities including Public Marriage Proposal, Internet Celebrity Wall as well as Spoof Videos. Besides, the pop-up store will also develop more personalized experience for customers by inspiring the soon-to-be couples for their own unique wedding planning.
