Ningbo, Zhejiang, China, 2 January 2014 – Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo has appointed Tobias Unger from Germany as executive chef to oversee all of the hotel’s culinary operations, including that of Shang Palace, Yi café, Lobster Bar & Grill and the Lobby Lounge, as well as banquet and in-room dining.
Chef Unger brings with him over 15 years of culinary experience in five-star hotels and luxury hotels. In 2012 he became the Executive Sous Chef at the Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai, administrating seven food and beverage outlets. Moreover, he is an outstanding trainer and coach, teaching knowledge and skills to over 100 colleagues to build a strong culinary team at Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai.
Chef Unger started his career in 1999 from his hometown in Germany and gained the precious experience in a one Star Michelin restaurant before his career took him to Dubai, Kuwait and China. His footprint in different countries has not only improved his cooking skills to meet international standards, but also – most importantly – taught him to respect and gain an understanding of different cultures. Chef Unger is eager to absorb the strength and advantage of different cuisines and present guests the fusion of innovative and traditional cuisines.
