Xian, China, 17 February 2014 – Shangri-La Hotel, Xian has appointed Chef Allan Tse as Chinese executive chef of Tian Xiang Ge Chinese Restaurant. Famed for his innovative contemporary Chinese cuisine, Chef Tse creates Cantonese fare with Western touch, presenting the best of both worlds. He expresses his modern take on traditional cuisine through meticulously-prepared dishes inspired by global presentation.
Hailing from Hong Kong, Chef Tse possessed a wealth of experience from over 40 years of culinary experience in various countries. Prior to that, he honed his skill at renowned hotels and restaurants, including Westin Hotel Macau and the Palace of Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur. He is no stranger to the Shangri-La group because he has worked at Shangri-La hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Qufu. He will oversee the kitchen operations of thelegendary Tian Xiang Ge at Shangri-La Hotel, Xian, including its Chinese banquet operations.

Like the design of the restaurant, the presentation of the food by Chef Tse will be modern-infused classical dishes with stylish innovation, as well. Chef Tse regards cooking as an art, a source of energy and inspiration, and considers food a universal language. In his vast experience spent at top restaurants and hotels around the world, he has had the opportunity to cook for notable people like ex-Singapore leader Lee Kuan Yew, ex-China President Jiang Zemin, ex-Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and many others.
Aside from his passion for cooking, Chef Allan’s interests include fishing, jogging and travelling. He is also fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
