Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan Cares For Leftover Children

Wuhan, 9 February 2015 – Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan conducted a special holiday activity called “Dad, I’m coming” in cooperation with Hubei TV Station and China Railway 11 Bureau. The hotel provided free accommodation to help create “meet” opportunities for the workers and their families, building a bridge of love between them.

For this activity, Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan invited four families to attend an experience the hotel has prepared meticulously: Making desserts, making the bed and learning about life safety. The fathers then tasted their child’s personally made dessert, making for a particularly warm family scene.

According to relevant data statistics, Hubei Province has four million “leftover children”. They stay at home with their grandparents and do not see their parents for a long time. Fathers play an important role in their children’s lives, but leftover children grow up without fathers, which is a general social problem in China.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently operates over 100 hotels with a room inventory of over 41,000.  Shangri-La hotels are five-star deluxe properties featuring extensive luxury facilities and services.  Shangri-La hotels are located in Australia, Canada, mainland China, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sultanate of Oman, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.  The group has a substantial development pipeline with upcoming projects in Australia, Bahrain, mainland China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.  For more information, please visit
