Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou will launch the Tai Wan Food Promotion from 19 to 30 March 2014 at Cafe Soo. For this event, the hotel has proudly invited Chef Yao Ziqiang from Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tai Nan to showcase his signature dishes and Tai Nan’s original local cuisine for Suzhou consumers. To experience such an amazing culinary journey, guests may reserve for the buffet lunch or dinner at Cafe Soo via phone at (86 512) 6808 0168 extension 22 or through the hotel’s official WeChat/Weibo.
A native Taiwanese, Chef Yao was born and grew up in Peng Hu. A wide range of ingredients has been part of his life since childhood and along with 20 years’ culinary experience, this has developed his ability to recognise freshness smartly. His pursuit for freshness results in his delicate dishes. Because of the abundance of vegetables, fruits and seafood in Tai Nan Fu Cheng, Chef Yao travels around in his spare time, searching for traditional and unique local delights to give him more cooking inspiration.
Chef Yao also cleverly and innovatively integrates ingredients he has seen or tasted previously in his cooking. He built his signature cooking style by incorporating modern elements with classic ones in terms of cooking techniques and food presentation.
During the food promotion, guests will be able to savour different Taiwanese dishes, to name a few, Deep-Fried Toast stuffed with Seafood, Tainan-Style Steamed Taro Cake, Tainan-Style Dan Dan Noodles and Tainan Minced Pork Rice and so on.
Tainan is also called Food Paradise. Its cuisine culture has been strongly influenced by foods rooted in the Fujian province and also by the cuisines of China mainland’s other cities. It is home to an ethnic and cultural diversity that affects its dietary culture, as well. With its rich array of dishes, Taiwanese cuisine speaks its good reputation to the world.
Located in the city centre, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tai Nan hosts 333 guestrooms and suites, which are the largest in the city and with an average size of 50 square metres that distinguish the hotel from other luxury hotels in Tainan.
