Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao presents new menu at Shang Palace

Qingdao, China, 14 March 2016 – Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao presents a new Shang Palace menu by Chinese Executive Chef Gao, Deliang and his experienced culinary team this March.  Through their open and practical cooking attitude, the team creates a friendly and healthy dining experience for customers from this season.

Chef Gao was born in Shanghai and has worked at many international five-star hotels abroad, including China, Japan and Singapore.  Forty years of culinary experience has helped him build a strong reputation as an expert on Huaiyang, Shanghainese, Sichuan, Cantonese and East South Asian cuisines.  Combining delicacy, health, fashion and a creative cooking philosophy, the brand-new menu contains a total of 160 dishes, including the restaurant’s unfailing signature dishes; fine-coloured and flavoured seafood and river food; healthy and fresh vegetables; mild and warm soups; and other 13 series.

Shang Palace’s eight signature dishes are the popular dish in town and especially capture the various culinary concepts from Chef Gao and his team. These include Steamed Wine-Marinated Hilsa Herring, Marinated Duck with Home-Made Sauce, Hand-Made Noodles in Crucian Fish Broth, Roasted Beef Rib with Chef’s Special Sauce, Huaiyang-Style Braised Streaky Pork with Egg, Hot and Sour Double-Boiled Cuttlefish Egg Soup, Braised Pork Spare Rib with Special Sauce and Pine Nuts; and Braised Sea Cucumber with Minced Pork.

Meanwhile, two Chinese set menus will still be offered due to their local popularity; both offer value for money and are favourably received.  The Weekday Set Lunch is priced at RMB138 plus 15 per cent service charge for two persons and offers almost 40 kinds of selected dishes.  The All-You-Can-Eat Weekend Lunch includes a selection of more than 60 classic dishes at RMB138 plus 15 per cent service charge for one person.

What’s more, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts worked with Tsingtao Brewery to create a co-branded Shangri-La Hotel and Tsingtao Beer now served at Shang Palace and all other restaurants at the hotel.  High-quality mineral water from Lao Mountain, selected barley from Canada and Australia and good strains of yeast from Germany are brewed together under a strict process to create a unique brand of taste.  Appreciated by a beverage master, the co-branded beer will surely satisfy customers with different flavours in the near future.
