Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao Presents New Menu at Shang Palace

Qingdao, China, 27 April 2015 – Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao presents a new a la carte menu at Shang Palace.

Shang Palace serves authentic Huaiyang cuisine, Cantonese dishes and fresh local seafood.  Its continuous innovation and improvement has kept Shang Palace deeply loved by diners for 18 years since opening.  Recently, the new Chinese executive chef, Mr. Gao Deliang, presents a brand-new menu to bring guests a special “Shang” flavour this green spring.

Chef Gao was born in Shanghai and had 36 years’ culinary experience in China, Japan and Singapore.  During his career journey around the world, he learned the strong points of different international cuisine cooking skills to improve himself.  Finally, he became a specialist in Huaiyang, Sichuan, Cantonese and Southeast Asian cuisines. The new menu includes 150 dishes, which are divided into 13 series, such as signature dishes, barbecued and cold dishes, soup, individual dishes, local seafood, poultry, vegetables, rice and noodles, dim sum and desserts.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts presents the culinary sustainability initiative “Rooted in Nature”, which features the finest locally and ethically sourced ingredients.  Chef Gao has created a “Rooted in Nature” special menu at Shang Palace.  “Rooted in Nature” items on the menu must meet one or more of five guidelines: support local agricultural and fishing communities; buy chemical pesticide-free local produce; source from free-range livestock and poultry products where possible; acquire sustainably sourced seafood caught through ethical means; and serve organic and fair-trade products indicated by national and local food safety standards.

Based on these guidelines, the hotel management and chefs visited different agriculturalzones and breedingbases to find the best “Routed in Nature” ingredients.
