Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao Presents Mexican Food Festival

Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao Presents Mexican Food Festival

Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao has invited guest chef Rafael Valdez Quinoz from Mexico to whip up a truly authentic spread of Mexican cuisine at Café Yum from 15 to 25 October 2015.
Mexican cuisine is known around the world for its intense and varied flavours, colourful presentation, variety of spices and, in particular, its corn and chilli peppers. Corn is the basis of the Mexican diet and has been for thousands of years.  Chillies give Mexican cooking a distinctive flavour, which is often enhanced with herbs.  The country’s fertile resources have enriched Mexican cuisine with diverse produce like seafood and vegetables.
Chef Rafael began his career in 2003 at Guadalajara Alariz, the city’s high-rated Mexican restaurant, and has been there since.  Using innovative culinary skills, he added to the restaurant’s menu on some of its popular dishes, such as Caramelised Spicy Pork, a Pork Sandwich made with birote soaked in spicy sauce and Chocolate Chicken Mole, which have won much recognition from the public.
This time, Chef Rafael will fly in straight from Mexico and, with assistance from the hotel’s culinary team, spice up the hotel’s buffet spread with popular Mexican favourites.  He will dish out a concoction of traditional and contemporary Mexican fare at Café Yum, which will serve more than 60 famous Mexican dishes, such as Burritos, Seafood Stew in Mexican Sauce and various Mexican salads like Spinach and Apple Salad and Mexican Love Salad.
After digging into these flavoursome and tempting delights, diners can sweeten their taste buds with special soups and dessert.  Café Yum will also be decorated in Mexican style and present hot Mexican dance performances.
For reservations, please call (86) 532 8388 3838 extension 6008.
