Qingdao, China, 26 May 2015 – The Flying Catch Mediterranean restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao will open on 3 June 2015 to offer authentic Mediterranean delicacies.

The restaurant’s value-added set menu starts at RMB68 without service charge, a unique choice for both business and family dining.

Chef Rolando from Italy has almost 30 years of international culinary experience gained from various corners of the world – around Europe and the Middle East, many cities in Asia, including highly acclaimed Michelin two- and three-starred restaurants in London, Capri and Rome.  Chef Rolando will significantly enhance and refine the culinary experience at The Flying Catch.

Mediterranean food features vegetables, fruits, fish, grains, beans and olive oil from counties around the Mediterranean, including France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco.  The Mediterranean diet is simple, light and nutritious, and considered a healthy diet.

The Flying Catch Mediterranean restaurant follows the original cooking style in providing almost all the famous Mediterranean dishes, such as Tapas, Tagine, Salt-Crusted Sea Bass and Soufflé.  Tapas is a quintessence of the Spanish diet; it has a wide variety of ingredients and extremely popular.  Ceramic Tagines are exquisite examples of Moroccan artisanship; a minimal amount of water is needed to cook meat and vegetables to buttery tenderness.  Some favour it for the unique earthy nuance it imparts to dishes.

Salt was used to preserve fish during the Roman Empire time, and this signature dish – Salt-Crusted Sea Bass – is very healthy because the salt helps maintain the fish’s quality and protein.  Soufflé started as a cooked mixture of flour and butter that became popular immediately.
