CHINA WORLD SUMMIT WING, BEIJING APPOINTS IVAN ALVAREZ AS EXECUTIVE CHEF

China World Summit Wing, Beijing is pleased to announce the appointment of Ivan Alvarez as Executive Chef. Chef Ivan will be responsible for the operation of the hotel’s four restaurants, the Atmosphere bar, and The Lounge, as well as the extensive catering, banqueting, and room service departments.

Chef Ivan hails from the Canary Islands. He started his culinary career in 2002 at the One Michelin-starred, Las Rejas in Spain. In the 17 years since, he has worked at restaurants and hotels in Spain, Thailand, Singapore, the UK and Chile. Most notably, the renowned three Michelin-starred restaurant El Bulli in Spain. Prior to joining China World Summit Wing, Beijing, he was Director of Culinary Operations and Food & Beverage at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Sanya.

Ivan was inspired to become a chef by watching his auntie cook on special family occasions, dreaming that he would also be able to create the same happiness through his food creations. Since starting his career, he has been committed to traveling the world to discover both new and diverse ingredients and local cooking techniques.

“Thanks to my work experience in countries across the world, I have the opportunity to learn about many different cuisines and I am delighted to be able to share my experiences with our guests through my food.” For Chef Ivan, the secret to a successful kitchen team is about more than just skill, it is about respecting the ingredients and being committed to maintaining high quality on a consistent basis.
