Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot Supports Earth Hour

Huhhot, 24 March 2015 – Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot will participate in Earth Hour, a global Worldwide Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) climate change initiative, on 28 March 2015.  This will be the hotel’s seventh consecutive year of demonstrating its commitment to protecting the environment and mitigating climate change with global volunteers.

The lights at Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot will be switched off and dimmed between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the public areas and around the hotel exterior.  The hotel and its staff have informed guests of the activity through different promotional collaterals, such as guest letters and posters.  Guests have been encouraged to participate by turning off the lights or turning down the air conditioning in their guestrooms as a commitment to environmental protection.

This year’s Earth Hour project is called “Switch Off, Blue On” and aims to encourage individuals to get involved in daily environmental protection actions to take the campaign beyond the hour.  Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot has participated in Earth Hour since 2008, which is only one part of the hotel’s environmental protection efforts.

During the event, the hotel will launch another environmental protection activity.  Guests stepping into the lobby will be impressed by a fully equipped bed setup aimed at energy saving.  The hotel consumes more water, electricity and other resources every time bed linens are changed and washed.  Guests can join the effort by using their hotel linens more than once to support environmental protection and conserve energy for a better future.
