Huhhot, China, 6 December 2013 – Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot held its “Warming Green City” Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 6 December 2013. The hotel will continue its Christmas charity drive throughout the festive season by selling Christmas cup cakes at Rmb10 each. Fund collected will be donated to the children at Huhhot Children’s Welfare House.
The hotel has been decorated for the festive season with a large, brightly lit Christmas tree in the lobby and a giant sized cup cake (weighing 1,500 kg, height of 2 meters) comprising of 800 smaller ones, making it the biggest cupcake in the city.
Guests from corporate companies and house guests were invited to the hotel’s “Warming Green City” charity event to share and spread their love. During the event, invited guests lit up the Lights of Love on the cupcake-shaped backdrop as a choir sang Christmas Carols in the background. Mr Victor Ng, the hotel’s general manager, and 2 special guests grace the event by cutting the giant cup cake, officially launching this meaningful event. Colourful balloons flew out within the giant cup cake, while the lobby brightens up chandelier by chandelier, synchronized to the lighting of the Christmas tree. It is seen everywhere guests with cup cakes in hands and cheerful smile on their faces.
Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot is the first international luxury five-star hotel in the city. Since its opening five years ago, the hotel has undertaken a series of charity events showing its dedication to corporate social responsibility. With the aim to help and spread love and warmth among the less fortunate, the hotel entered a 15-year relationship with Huhhot Children’s Welfare House in 2008 and established the Shangri-La Home in September 2010. At Shangri-La Home, five full-time nursing staff carefully nurse orphans and disabled babies aged up to three years old. The hotel also encourages guests and staff to be involved in the volunteer programme.
