Guilin, China, 26 July 2013 – On 25 July 2013, 6:30 p.m., Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin's corporate social responsibility (CSR) "Lijiang Scented Moon Night" charity dinner opened in the hotel's garden with melodious folk music in the background. Hundreds of local celebrities were invited to participate in Shangri-La’s sustainability activity. Mr. Jin Xisheng, the new general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin, expressed his warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the guests.
Smelling the scent of flowers, the guests could taste a series of delicious food accompanied by the melodious folk music and bright moonlight. The White Lotus Bean Moon Cake launched by Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts was presented to guests during dinner. The guests were also able to taste the different kinds of moon cakes Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin is offering this year.
To thank the clients’ long-term support of the hotel, a lucky draw was especially set up at dinner. The lucky draw included Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin’s specialty suite voucher, a Spa and Health Club voucher for two persons, a voucher for a two-night stay in an executive suite room at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou and so on, allowing guests to feel the full hospitality of Shangri-La.
At the same time, the hotel is participating in charitable activities to contribute to society. Charity Auction is a very important part of dinner and the hotel sponsored buffet dinner, guestroom voucher and Health Club fitness cards for auction. All proceeds raised will be used for Yankou Primary school's long-term construction and development.
Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin began supporting Yankou Primary School as a fulfilment of its CSR "Embrace" programme in May 2010. Since then, the school’s overall environment has improved significantly through the hotel’s periodical volunteer activities and contributions for the past three years.
The dinner reached a climax when the Charity Auction started to the sound of "Grateful Heart." Seven students from Yankou Primary School took to the stage slowly and expressed in sign language their sincere gratitude. Generous guests eagerly bid and an anonymous guest entrusted the hotel to deliver an additional RMB 1,000 donation to the school. The students spent a memorable night surrounded by the deepest caring and love. They have pledged to study hard and reciprocate the endless support with honours.
