Traders Hotel, Singapore Presents Penang's Hot Favourites - Penang Food

Traders Hotel, Singapore will showcase the well-known and much-loved flavours of Penang at Cafebiz and Ah Hoi’s Kitchen from 13 September to 31 October 2013.

Guest chefs Lim Thow Shong and Ridzuan Bin Mat from Golden Sands Resort will prepare a menu comprising popular Penang dishes, including Char Kway Teow, Assam Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Assam Prawns, Chicken Curry Kapitan, Rojak, Tau Kwa Sumbat, Nasi Goreng Teluk Bahang, Loh Bak, Mee Goreng Mamak Penang and Curry Mee. These dishes are featured on a rotating menu for the Cafebiz buffet, together with a range of international cuisine. A selection of six dishes will be available for dinner at Ah Hoi’s Kitchen.

The mere mention of Penang conjures an instant association with food. Penang’s hawker or street food owes its origins to the multi-racial melting pot of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. In addition, there is Penang Nonya cuisine of Malay, Chinese and Thai influence. This cuisine is akin to the Baba Nonya or Peranakan cuisine of Malacca and Singapore. Penang is also renowned for its tourist attractions, including a UNESCO World Heritage site (since 7 July 2008) and its city street art is gaining popularity.

Whether one stays in the city of George Town or along the beach, there is much to enjoy. Diners during the hotel’s Penang food promotion will qualify for a lucky draw and may win a two-night stay at one of three Penang hotels: Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Golden Sands Resort and Traders Hotel, Penang.

The Penang Food Promotion at Cafebiz is priced at SGD 47 for Buffet Lunch from Monday to Friday, SGD 58 for Brunch on Saturday and Sunday, while Dinner Buffet is priced at SGD 58 from Monday to Wednesday and SGD 63 from Thursday to Sunday. At Ah Hoi’s Kitchen, the dinner a la carte menu dishes start from SGD 15. All prices quoted are subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government tax.
