Embrace Project - He Ping Street Primary School
Inspired by the
Kerry Group Kuok Foundation (KGKF) approach to developing sustainable
communities, Shangri-La Hote, Chengdu commenced
commitment to work with the Heping Street School for the
education of children with special needs over a long-term period of 5 years.
Embrace Project - Five Color Foundation
Shangri-La Hotel,
Chengdu supports the 5 Colours
Foundation for “Disabled Students Charity Program”. The foundation was
established by Zhou Chunya, one of Chengdu’s most renowned
artists, helps disabled student, providing them psychological support,
facilities to learn art and survival skills enabling them to lead independent
lives.
Care for Pengzhou Old People Welfare House
Shangri-La Hotel,
Chengdu has built up
long term relations with Pengzhou Old People Welfare after the 5.12 earthquake
in 2008. It’s located in the earthquake affected area. Around 70 old people
live there. On numerous occasions, the hotel volunteers have visited the old
people to strengthen the bond.
Big Brother and Sister Program
Co-operated with Kuok
foundation, Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu supports the poor students whose parent left
the hometown for working and help them grow up as valuable person. Hotel
establishes a volunteer team of 17 staff and 4 - 5 teams to keep contact with
them by telephone or correspondence at least once a month. Also hotel will
arrange activities for these students.
