Putting smiles on child patients' faces

Lerdsin Hospital, one of Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok's nearby neighbours in the Bangrak District, regularly requires 20 patients with cases of thalassaemia to have blood transfusions every two to four weeks. However, its current blood transfusion machine may not be able to handle a volume overload or post-transfusion hypertension because there is a lack of blood transfusion pumps. 

Realising the urgency of Lerdsin Hospital's need for proper blood transfusion facilities, the hotel identified this tertiary care hospital as its beneficiary partner to improve the quality of health and education within the country. 

Sustainable medial care 

In an effort to provide an opportunity for the children patients of the hospital to live a normal life, the hotel decided to make refurbishing the blood transfusion rooms the first priority of its "Embrace" project at Lerdsin Hospital. The recent renovation of two blood transfusion rooms has helped put smiles on the faces of the child patients, doctors and nurses at the hospital. 

Activities and workshops 

The hotel’s short-term and long-term activities and initiatives to provide better care for the child patients include the "One Child One Gift" programme, regular visits every two months to teach and entertain the children and providing nutritious food and educational trips for the children.
