Inspired by its location beside the coastal wetlands of Shenzhen Bay – a vital habitat for migratory birds – Shangri-La Nanshan, Shenzhen brings together contemporary design, local culture and a strong commitment to sustainability.

We are equally committed to making each stay more sustainable. Certified to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold, the hotel is designed to offer a stay that is both culturally rich and consciously green. To avoid single-use plastics, we have installed in-room taps that supply filtered water. We have also eliminated single-use plastic water bottles from all banquets and use large-format bathroom amenities to reduce packaging waste.

We also help protect our coastal surroundings by organising regular clean-ups along Shenzhen Bay. By bringing colleagues and partners together for these activities, we foster community wellbeing and environmental stewardship, contributing to a healthier shoreline for residents, wildlife and future visitors alike.

We also safeguard the purity of our ingredients and the wellbeing of our guests. In response to concerns about microplastics, we use durable marble chopping boards for food preparation and display at Café 66. Each board undergoes rigorous cleaning – including thermal and chemical sterilisation followed by microbiological testing – to meet our high hygiene standards and help protect guests’ health.
