Qinhuangdao is the birthplace of China's modern tourism industry, which gathers rich tourism resources and has a mild climate. It is a well-known tourist and leisure resort at home and abroad, and has the reputation of "Paradise City".
Shanhaiguan
In the center of the old town, Shanhaiguan Pass (or the First Pass Under Heaven) is the first pass of great military importance along the Great Wall. Starting north from the Jingbian Tower is the Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum, which contains a detailed history of this world monument.
Xin’ao Marine World
Walking distance from the Hotel, Qinhuangdao Xin’ao Marine World offers visitors a glimpse of marine life through displays in the Submarine Tunnel, Dolphin Performance Hall, Touch Pool, Penguin Hall, Seal Hall, Gigantic Insect Garden, and the Sea Knowledge Exhibition Hall.
Golden Coast Scenic Spot
The Golden Coast covers an area of 376 square kilometers (145 square miles) in Changli County and provides a relaxing and picturesque setting. (The first International Sand-skating Sports Center was built here in the 1980s.)
Safari Park
Qinhuangdao Safari Park is in the Costal National Forest Park of Beidaihe Scenic Area, between Qinhuangdao and Beidaihe. Covering an area of 334 hectares, it is the second safari park to have been built in China.
Longevity Mountain, around 9km (5.6mi) northeast of the Shanhaiguan District, combines natural scenery and man-made landscapes. Visitors can enjoy a variety of unique attractions, such as Stone Gate, Fairy Cave, Heaven of Peace and Happiness, Grottoes of Highly Skilled Doctors, and Xuanyang Ancient Cave.
Xianluo
The amusement park on Xianluo Island has a cable car crossing over the sea, a sightseeing tower, sea-rafts, bungee-jumping and many other exciting activities. Similar attractions include the forested area of Nandaihe, and Nandaihe Water Park on the south side of Huanhai Lu.
Qinhuangdao Museum
The Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum is one of three such museums in China. Opened in 1991, its exhibits trace the history, culture, organization and military aspects of the iconic heritage site.
The pictures and cultural relics displayed in the museum offer visitors a fascinating insight into one of mankind's greatest feats of construction. The museum is made up of six galleries: the Preface Hall, History Hall, Construction Hall, Military Hall, Culture Hall and Shanhaiguan Great Wall Hall.
