At Kowloon Shangri-La, our sustainability and CSR initiatives are focused on five key areas: community engagement, environment and biodiversity, employee development, sustainable supply chain, and health and safety.
Shangri-La Supports Hong Kong Communities During Our Home City’s Fifth Wave of Covid-19
As Hong Kong battles its unprecedented fifth wave of Covid-19, Shangri-La is particularly concerned about the wellbeing of those in our community who are especially vulnerable: the elderly, the disabled, and women and children. From 28 February 2022, we had extended our hospitality beyond our physical properties into the local community by working with several charity organisations to provide hot meals, test kits, and masks to these groups of people, and we have provided more than 6,000 hot meals per day until the end of April 2022. “Shangri-La Cares, Hong Kong” aims to spend USD 2 million to achieve this target.
“Hong Kong is our home and as a proud member of this wonderful community, we hope to do what we can to support those members who face tremendous challenges in these difficult times. Our colleagues’ enthusiastic response in support of this initiative has been overwhelming, and I am particularly moved by the positive energy that this has produced,” says Hui Kuok, Chairman of Shangri-La Group. “I am optimistic that Hong Kong will overcome the present challenge, and hopefully we can become a stronger community if we work together to help each other through this.”
