Trains
Trains offer an efficient, scenic way of travelling within China, and link the country with reliable service.
You may travel in one of four classes: Soft Seat or Soft Sleeper with air-conditioning; and the Hard Seat or Hard Sleeper.
Buses
Three long-distance bus stations are located just outside the city centre. The east bus station is comprehensive, with frequent coach buses departing for Shanghai, Shaoxing and Ningbo.

Getting around the city in a car and a driver is a safe and comfortable transport option.

Both Suzhou and Wuxi are accessible via the Grand Canal in Huangzhou. One boat departs daily for each location, both taking 13 hours.
The boating industry on West Lake is regulated. Boat operators wear light blue uniforms and charge RMB 80 (USD 10) per hour.
Hiring a private boat is recommended, and the hotel staff will be happy to assist with the arrangements.
