Renovation Overview
Phase 1
October 2025 - November 2026

Focus:

•New Tanjung Wing pool, refurbishment of Main Lobby (Tanjung Wing), Borneo Lounge and the resort driveway entrance.

Phase 2
May 2026 - Q4 2027

Focus:

•Refurbishment of Lobby (Kinabalu Wing), new family facilities, revamped recreation centres, infinity, family & baby pools, Splash, Health Club, buds by Shangri-La, Shang Palace, STAR Lounge and Hotel Shop.

•Refurbishment of Kinabalu Wing rooms is scheduled to begin from May 2026.

•A new Western Grill restaurant, Linara, scheduled to open in February 2027.

Update: From December 2026, guests can look forward to the newly opened Tanjung Wing Main lobby and Tanjung Wing swimming pool (1.2m depth).

Which facilities will remain open?

These facilities will remain in operation during Phase 1 from October 2025 – November 2026:

• All restaurants and bars,

• Selected Tanjung Wing guest rooms and suites,

• Horizon guestrooms and the relocated Horizon Lounge,

• From September 2026, the Horizon Lounge will be temporarily closed. During this period, Suite guests will continue to enjoy personalised privileges, including: Personalised airport transfers with in-room check-in, Daily breakfast at Café TATU (6.30am – 10.30am) or 24-hour In-Room Dining, Complimentary pressing of two garments per stay, and Daily High Tea Set with selected complimentary beverages at Coco Joe's Bar & Grill (4.30pm – 6.30pm),

• Kinabalu Wing Lobby, until November 2026

• All function rooms,

• Leisure Centre and the infinity, baby and family pools, and Splash,

• Recreation Game room,

• buds by Shangri-La,

• Health Club and the gymnasium,

• STAR Lounge,

• Sunset Beach,

• Tennis courts,

• STAR Marina,

• Chi, The Spa, and

• Hotel Shop.

Please note:

• From May 2026, all Kinabalu Wing guest rooms and suites will be closed for renovation, and will remain unavailable until completion in Q4 2027.

These facilities will remain in operation or become available progressively during Phase 2 from May 2026 - Q4 2027:

• All restaurants and bars, except those undergoing scheduled refurbishement,

• All Tanjung Wing guest rooms and suites,

• All function rooms,

• Sunset Beach,

• Tennis Courts,

• STAR Marina,

• Chi, The Spa,

• Newly enhanced Tanjung Wing Main Lobby from December 2026,

• New Tanjung Wing swimming pool (1.2m depth) from December 2026,

• New Western Grill restaurant, Linara, from February 2027,

• Enhanced Health Club, buds by Shangri-La, and recreation facilities, scheduled for completion in mid-2027,

• Refurbished Kinabalu Wing guest rooms, family rooms and lobby, scheduled for completion in mid-2027,

• Enhanced infinity, family and baby pools, and Splash, scheduled for completion in mid-2027, and

• Refurbished Shang Palace, scheduled for completion in Q4 2027.

Please note:

• The Kinabalu Wing Lobby will undergo refurbishment from December 2026 to mid-2027.

• The Health Club, buds by Shangri-La and selected recreation facilities will undergo refurbishment from January 2027 to mid-2027.

• The infinity, family and baby pools, and Splash will undergo refurbishment from January 2027 to mid-2027.

• Shang Palace will undergo refurbishment from March 2027 to Q4 2027.

• The relocated Leisure Centre is scheduled to be available from mid-October 2026.

Will dining be affected?

Borneo Lounge: Closed from December 2025 – November 2026.

Horizon Lounge: Temporarily closed from September 2026, with alternative Horizon Club privileges available for eligible guests.

Shang Palace: Scheduled for refurbishment from March 2027 - Q4 2027.

New Western Grill, Linara: Scheduled to open in February 2027.

All other dining outlets remain open.

Will there be noise or visual impact?

Renovation work is scheduled daily from 9am to 6pm.

We will take every possible measure to mitigate disturbance, including:

• Strategic hoarding,

• Buffer zones between work areas and rooms, and

• Re-routing pathways with buggy and umbrella support.

Some noise and visual impact may be noticeable during your stay.

Will this affect my stay?

Your comfort is our priority. We are:

• Ensuring operational continuity of key guest areas throughout the renovation period,

• Minimising disruption wherever possible, and

• Introducing newly enhanced spaces progressively, including the new Tanjung Wing swimming pool and Main Lobby (December 2026), new Western Grill restaurant, Linara (February 2027), enhanced recreation and wellness facilities (mid-2027), refurbished Kinabalu Wing guest rooms and lobby (mid-2027), and enhanced swimming pools and Splash (mid-2027).
