At Shangri-La Beijing, our sustainability initiatives are focused on five key areas: community engagement, environment and biodiversity, employee development, sustainable supply chain, and health and safety.

Since 2016, Shangri-La Beijing has joined forces with the Beijing Farmers’ Market to host a vibrant weekly market every Saturday at the hotel, providing local farmers with a platform to offer their fresh produce directly to consumers while promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Nearby residents can purchase a wide variety of appealing ingredients, including fruits and vegetables, eggs, grains etc. In addition, we source locally grown ingredients from these farmers, supporting the local economy while reducing carbon emissions through shorter transportation distances.

Through organizing children’s flea markets, we encourage the reuse of pre-loved items and give idle clothing, toys, and books a new life. While helping to reduce resource waste and environmental impact, this initiative also provides children with an opportunity to learn about sharing, responsibility, and sustainability. By engaging at an early age, we help nurture environmental awareness and a sense of community, empowering the next generation to contribute to a greener future.
