When History Meets Modernity

A multifaceted city where the past blends seamlessly with the present, Suzhou is renowned as China’s “Venice of the East.” Dotted with a patchwork of canals, stone bridges, pagodas and meticulously designed gardens, Suzhou poses itself as an eye-catching and pedestrian-friendly city.

The classical gardens, such as Canglang Pavilion, Lion Grove Garden, the Humble Administrator’s Garden and Lingering Garden, have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Suzhou’s origins date back 2,500 years and it is the cradle of Chinese Wu culture, showcasing traditional opera, fine art and embroidery. Regional Jiangsu style cuisine is also renowned in the city’s vibrant dining scene.

There is also a modern face to Suzhou. Attracting a vast number of high-tech firms, business-friendly Suzhou has established several commercial zones, including Jinji Lake Central Business District, Integrated Free Trade Zone, Phase-3 New and Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, and Yangcheng Lake Eco-Tourism Resort.
