Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang Presents Customised Lao Long Kou Wine

Shenyang, 27 March 2017 – Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang is launching the “Limited Edition” Lao Long Kou Wine with close partnership with the famous winery. With more than 300 years of history, Lao Long Kou has specially designed a version of the famous wine at 52°, especially for Shangri-La Hotel. This limited edition beverage has a sweet and mellow taste, which is very easy on the palate and suitable for all occasions.

Made with selected fresh sorghum, wheat, barley and pea, the customised Lao Long Kou Wine applies the same distinctive traditional techniques to release a mellow and fragrant taste, a fine texture and a long finish.  For centuries, Lao Long Kou has persisted in using water from ancient wells, which is crystal clear, rich in mineral substance and very suitable for wine making.  Meanwhile, its fermentation pits have been constantly used for over 300 years and the bacterial flora gives the wine the advantages of having a strong aroma and a long aftertaste.  The customised Lao Long Kou Wine is tailor-made at 52°, providing a superior and distinctive aroma.

Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang launches the limited edition Lao Long Kou Wine with partnership with the famous Chinese winery with over 300 years of history.  The edition of Lao Long Kou Wine has a sweet and mellow taste which goes well with all delicacies.

Founded in 1662, Lao Long Kou Wine enjoys a well-established reputation for being the winery with a long history and a large base in north-eastern China.  In the early Qing dynasty, the wine was used mainly for royalty and served only to the emperors, namely, Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang, during their eastern tour of Shenyang.  The wine was also designated for use in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1959.

Using red sorghum from north-eastern China as the main ingredient, Lao Long Kou Wine has three major product series with more than 200 varieties, enjoying a favourable fame worldwide.

In 1999, its quality produce won the Grand Gold award at the Brussels International Wine Competition in 1999 and its two major products were designated for use during the Olympic Games in 2008.  That same year, the wine was included in China’s National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, thanks to its unique traditional handcrafted brewing technique.
