Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa Turtle Care Project

Caring for our yearly visitors

In line with our commitment to biodiversity conservation, we launched Sanctuary, Shangri-La's Care for Nature Project.Oman has five nesting sites and Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa is one of them. Every year approximately 100 turtles return to the resort’s beach to lay eggs. At Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, we are committed to our Turtle Care Project, which aims to protect the endangered hawksbill and green turtles species native to the beaches of Oman. A dedicated turtle ranger has been appointed to ensure the nests are sheltered from any threats and to raise awareness amongst guests and local communities alike on the plight of turtles through educational activities such as daily talks at the Eco Centre located in Al Bandar hotel wing within the adjacent sister property, Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa. During turtle season, hotel guests are invited to witness nest hatchings on the beach, between March and August.
