Emil Minev

With almost 25 years of culinary expertise in fine dining, Emil Minev joins the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London as Executive Chef, leading a brigade of 60.

Chef Minev oversees the hotel’s three unique wining and dining venues including LÁNG, an artisan deli and cafe on the ground floor, TĪNG, a destination restaurant and lounge on level 35 and GŎNG, a signature bar on level 52. Chef Minev has also developed an imaginative 24-hour in-room dining concept for guests to enjoy from the comfort of their guest room or suite, overlooking London's iconic landmarks. In addition Chef Minev offers an inspired epicurean experience to complement the dynamic banqueting options in the three distinctive river-facing function rooms.

An innovative chef, who has a passion for locally sourced produce, Chef Minev returns to London having spent the last three years in some of Shangri-La’s best hotels, in Tokyo and the Maldives. 

Commenting on his passion for gastronomy, Chef Minev said: "I would say that my style is contemporary, based on the foundations of classic cuisine.  I am very keen to use local ingredients whenever possible and apply them to more cutting edge techniques. My motto would be 'Whatever you do in life, put your heart and soul in it, and do it with love'.”

Chef Minev brings a wealth of local experience to his role with Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London having worked in some of the capital’s finest luxury hotels including The Ritz Hotel, plus a number of restaurants awarded Michelin stars. Prior to his career with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Chef Minev also worked within the kitchens at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.

A native of Bulgaria, Chef Minev moved to London in 2002 to study at Cordon Bleu, one of the most prestigious culinary colleges in the world. Fuelled by an appetite to succeed and develop his culinary skills, Chef Minev trained within London’s best restaurants whilst his academic pursuit also sent him to the world renowned Alain Ducasse Formation Center in Paris and three Michelin starred restaurant, el Bulli in Barcelona.
