Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin and Songbei Shangri-La, Harbin two Shangri-La hotels in the Ice City of Harbin, cheered for all the contestants of the Harbin International Marathon (HIM), which fired its opening shot on 26 August 2017.

More than 30,000 runners participated in the competition, for which the two Shangri La Harbin hotels provided an energy station.  The hotels also participated by organising a mini marathon and set up a brand show place at the Municipal Government Square, the end-point for the half-way Marathon Race.

As official partners of HIM, Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin and Songbei Shangri-La, Harbin prepared very early before the race.  The colleagues devoted their passion to organising the mini marathon, preparing the food choices at the energy station and setting up the brand show place.  They utilised their service attitude to make sure every detail has been considered and smoothly figured out.

To energise the runners with fresh food, the two hotels prepared thousands of pieces of toasted bread that could be eaten in one bite at a time.  The hotel offered four nourishing bread flavours, including Cranberry, Rose, Chocolate and Rye, for the contestants, all to help them replenish their strength.  In the morning of the competition day, the hotel’s attendants, accompanied by its Siberian tiger mascot, Beibei, welcomed the arrival of the runners at the energy station.

The two Shangri-La hotels also organised a very special mini-marathon team with 106 colleagues.  Twenty female colleagues dressed in bridal gowns walked on both sides of the formation, holding up the flags with the words “Get Married at Shangri-La Hotels” to invite new couples to celebrate and fulfil their dream wedding dream at Shangri-La hotels.

The hotel’s cheering team cheered on the mini marathon formation with 80 other colleagues when it passed by the front door of Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin.  Their slogan lifted all contestants’ spirits to speed up and keep moving.

At the end-point of the halfway marathon, Songbei Shangri-La, Harbin set up a show place to present its wedding offers to the citizens.  The citizens and contestants were able to know the hotel better by participating in the interactive activities, such as scanning the hotel’s WeChat QR code to win gifts.  The runners took pictures with Beibei to keep this unforgettable marathon race in memory.

To celebrate the HIM, Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin launched a dining offer exclusively for the marathon runners.  From 25 to 26 August 2017, each contestant could enjoy a portion of steak or lobster upon presenting their participant’s ID to the attendant.  Moreover, guests who availed the buffet at group or discounted prices could enjoy unlimited servings of Garden BBQ by paying an additional RMB58 per person.
