From 14 to 27 April 2014, China World Hotel, Beijing welcomes Guest Noodle Chef Feng Yongtian from Shangri-la’s Golden Flower Hotel, Xi’an to prepare authentic Shanxi noodle dishes for local food lovers at Scene a Café.
Guests will have a chance to try some of the Shanxi noodle classics, such as Pulled Noodles in Sizzling Oil, Knife-Cut Noodles and the famous Biangbiang Noodles.
Chef Feng is a local Shanxi citizen with over 10 years of working experience as a noodle chef. He joined Golden Flower Hotel, Xian in 2012 and has represented the hotel at Shanxi Noodle Festivals in several cities, including Taiwan, Dalian and Shenyang. Chef Feng specialises in noodle making and preparing various condiments, such as chilli oils and noodle gravy.
The history of Shanxi noodles can be traced back 3,000 years ago. The region’s suitable climate and land condition breeds a superb environment for growing wheat, the base ingredient used in Shanxi noodles.
During the Shanxi Noodle Festival, guests at Scene a Café can savour a bowl of Chef Feng’s Noodles in Sizzling Oil with chilli oil and just enough seasoning to achieve an aesthetic presentation. The taste of greasy, yet delicious chewy hand-pulled noodles is sure worth the trip. On top of the noodles, guests will also have the opportunity to watch the culinary team demonstrate a live noodle making performance.
