Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin Joins Global Activity "Earth Hour" Once Again

Harbin, 19 March 2016 – Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin once again took part in Earth Hour, the global environmental protection activity calling for people to protect the environment with their own strength.  This year’s theme is “Get Rid of Haze, See the Blue Sky Again”.
 
Similar to last year’s, the Earth Hour theme in China this year is “For Blue Life”, calling on the public to take action in their daily lives by living a sustainable lifestyle to get rid of haze and see the blue sky again though baby-step changes.
 
To involve more guests, the hotel began to promote this campaign in and outside the hotel a week ahead.  Guests could find information about the activity everywhere in the hotel, from the electronic screen in the public areas to guest letters and in-room videos.  The hotel also launched a WeChat vote to attract the interest of people in a fun way.  By voting for their favourite green lifestyle, the hotel increased awareness of Earth Hour.
 
On the day, all participating hotel guests enjoyed unplugged music, tasting green cocktails and riding electric bikes to witness the blackout moment together in 2016.

The hotel hopes to raise public awareness of environmental protection and fulfil its responsibility of protecting the blue sky.
 
“For Blue Life”
The theme not only refers to the blue sky, but also to the only home of humans and nature – the blue planet.  Every citizen can make a change in their life to live blue through green travel, rational consumption, recycling, purchasing certified and sustainable goods, practising sustainable consumption and lifestyles.
 
As a green company, Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin regularly organises environmental protection activities, including sweeping in the Songhua River area, recycling competitions, garbage-classification knowledge sharing and voluntary tree planting and so on.  The hotel staff help protect the environment and have become spokespersons for blue life through small acts every day.
