Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin Celebrates Children’s Day and Dragon Boat Festival With Students of Yongsheng Primary School

Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin celebrated Children’s Day and the Dragon Boat Festival with students from Yongsheng Primary School on 31 May 2016.

On the day, hotel management representatives headed to Yongsheng Primary School in Zhaoan Village, Daowai District, in the early morning.  The children warmly welcomed their familiar guests by putting red scarves around the guests’ necks and inviting them to participate in their new Young Pioneers ceremony.

First, the Young Pioneers captain read the names of new members while the new Young Pioneers stood neatly in a row.  The senior Young Pioneers put red scarves around the new members’ necks.  The little faces of new Young Pioneers looked solemn and firm, feeling very proud and glorious by looking at the red scarves on their chests.  This moment brought their big friends from Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin back to their youth, when they became Young Pioneers.

The hotel representatives brought 100 new books for the students as a gift for Children’s Day.  The books were purchased using money generated from a charity sale themed “Take Love Home” held by hotel colleagues on 27 May 2016.  The sale was held in a community beside the hotel, where many residents were eager to buy charity items.

“We hope to dedicate our love to the children of Yongsheng Primary School together with Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin,” the residents said.

The charity event lasted more than two hours, collecting a total of RMB4,000.  The hotel completely integrated this money into “Embrace Project” fund for purchasing books for the students of Yongsheng Primary School and improving their campus facilities.

Moreover, each of the students and teachers received a box of rice dumplings to celebrate the Chinese traditional Dragon Boart Festival with blessings and regards from the hotel.

“Thank you, uncles and aunts!” the very happy children said excitedly as they held the rice dumplings and their new books.

The principal of Yongsheng Primary School said gratefully, “The school’s environment has been improved since we cooperated with Shangri-La Hotel.  The children are studying harder, and hope to become pillars of society to help more people in need.”
